Purpose – Broad objective of the role
Leading  Direct and indirect tax compliance for all the companies in India and Asia Pacific region, putting in place adequate audit defence mechanisms,supporting business teams in efficient structuring of sales and procurement transactions in India and Asia Pacific Region.    Handling  all the audits, assessments, litigations and obtaining advance rulings including tax  concessions.

Size and Scope of Role – Financial
1.Cash Flow efficiencies of ~Rs.300 to 400 crs through settlement of litigations.

2. Annual corporate tax ~ Rs. 500 crs.                                                         3. Indirect Tax  ~ Rs. 950 crs.                                                                         4. TDS  ~ Rs. 500 crs                                                                                     5. in all manages tax compliances of ~ 415 companies  in India with a turnover of ~USD 1.300 billion per annum. 

Thus Heman manages tax compliance  for about USD1300 million i.e., 33 % of the TC group tunover.

Minimum qualification & experience
CA with a law qualification preferred with the work experience of 12 to 15 years. Should have  worked as tax lead handling direct and indirect tax for atleast 2 years in a large scale organisation.
Other knowledge/skills
Knowledge of Direct & Indirect tax regulations in india and Asia Pac region. Fair knowledge of accounting in local GAAPs and USGAAP/IFRS/IAS. Excellent communication skills and building and nurturing relationships with the external and internal stake holders.
Key Responsibilities
1.Income-Tax :Leading 100% Income Tax Compliance for all companies in India, comprising timely and correct payment of Advance Tax, 

iling of returns, ensuring complete credit from tax authorities for TDS deducted by customers. Take innovative tax positions 

to ensure adequate precations are taken to avert any adverse bottom line implications. Representing before tax authorities for assessment /audit proceedings directly without any external professional help, coordinating with tax authorities in getting rectfications done for errors in orders passed by tax authorities,  co-ordinating with tax authorities in getting refunds processed expediciously & accurately and in getting concessional tax certificates. Supporting various functions in structuring transactions tax efficiently    2.Litigation :Identifying tax positions not accepted by tax officer and taking necessary action to file appeals before Appellate Authorities without any external professional help. Representing before appellate and 

working with senior legal council  authorities directly without any external professional help to get the demands stayedy, 

representing directly for getting adjournments before second aappellate authority, working with external professionals and senior 

legal council for developnig arguments for all litigations                                 3.Indirect Tax  : Leading 100 % erstwhile service tax and now GST compliance for all 5 companies in India, comprising timely and correct determination of liability,payment of GST, filing of returns. Handling all audits, summons and other notices from tax authorities without any external professional help.Obtain clarifications from tax authorities in advance on certain contentious tax issues. Tax advisory to Business, Billing and Procurement team  4.VAT : Ensure compliance in each state through local Finance team. Explore possibilities and obtain concessional tax certificates to save bottom line and cashflow implications. Support Business, Billing and Procurement teams on the applicabilty of  VAT / Sales tax for ensuring adequate compliance  5.Asia Pacific Region :Ensure compliance of direct and indirect taxes by all 16 companies in 13 countries, which includes assessment of liability,  timely payment of tax and filing of return. Provide timely support to business teams, Billing,Business and Procurement team. Handling all audit notices and ensuring acceptence by tax authorities of positions taken by comapny in the audits.    

6.Adherence to all notices  :Leads and brings to closure efficiently various notices TCL and its affliates in India and Singapore including summons notices of Directors 7.Withholding Tax Provision :Leading strict compliance of withholding tax provisions by providing tax advisory on all foreign remittances effected 

from India and 13 countries of APAC Region. Provide support to sales team on business contract drafting. Liaison with 

government departments, develop relationships. Identify newer areas for tax-optimisation 8.Audit  :Ensure compliance with audit cycles- both internal and external audits 9.Knowledge Management : Engage with industry peers, track and study decisions of various judiciaries, circulars of Income-Tax Deptt & Service Tax Deptt to understand contemporary tax issues. Drive and maintain constant upkeep of knowledge within team    

10.Team Development : Assess talent requirements; Conduct goal setting and performance review; Drive team development with emphais on talent retention, training, engagement and reward initiatives.
