Currently we have an opportunity for an experienced Trading IT Developer to be part of our Global Trading Analytics team.  The role will work very closely with our trading teams on the trading floor and is currently based in Spring, Texas.

What role would you play within our team?
If successful, you will take a leading role within the technical arm of ExxonMobil’s Trading Analytics organization implementing and further developing a Data & Analytics platform to make the sharing, searching, transforming, and onboarding of data simple and efficient. We are developing a cloud-based platform and infrastructure using the latest tech, capable of cleaning, transforming and efficiently accessing data, running on-demand as well as scheduled models, and integrating with pre-existing technology. We are looking for an experienced individual who will play a key role in shaping and building the platform as we scale it, influencing how it is built, and the technical decisions we take.

The key deliverables include:

Taking ownership of the technical design of our Data & Analytics platform covering the aspects of integration of new use cases, robustness, performance, data latency, availability and maintainability.
Shaping and influencing the technical delivery backlog with new ideas and enhancements and technical requirements.
Acting as the interface between Traders, Analysts, and ExxonMobil’s technical community. Support business users to best leverage the Data & Analytics platform. Translate business requirements into a technical design.
Acting as technical mentor for the multidisciplinary team of Data Engineers, Developers, and Data Scientists delivering features and enhancements for our platform.
Monitoring quality assurance processes and improvements where indicated.
Working in a supportive and collaborative environment focused on delivering value to our users.

Who are we looking for.
To be eligible for this role, you must:

Be educated to Bachelor’s Degree level (or hold other relevant industry experience
Have experience in energy/commodity trading and familiarity with commodity trading analytics use cases.

Be able to demonstrate:

The ability to work with multi-cultural global team 
Have an in depth understanding of data flows and be able to integrate data flows from surrounding systems using state of the art technologies.
Be a real technical problem solver, able to create solutions for complex requirements with a hands-on attitude.
Keep up to date with new trends in Data Analytics tools and always be looking for new solutions to solve complex problems.
Have experience in building, operating and/or supporting robust and scalable big data platforms.
Have the ability to translate business requirements into a technical design, and be able to review and further improve existing technical designs.
Have hands on experience with visualisation tools.
Have experience in development and scripting (e.g. Python).
Have practical working experience in utilizing and operating cloud services (preferably Azure).
Have an understanding of operational aspects like high availability, monitoring, security, robustness.

Additional  skills / abilities

Ability to manage workload under time pressure and changing priorities.
Working knowledge of data infrastructure, pipelines, and data integration processes to understand data access issues.
An appreciation of data science & machine learning applications and the related data requirements.
