Position Overview
Are you a forward-thinker?  An innovator?  As an IT Solution Architect, you will be the technical liaison for our Product Managers, vetting ideas and projects before they hit the ground, and helping decide which technical solutions to implement. This is your opportunity to work with our Districts, Departments, and Job Sites to identify problems and work with them to design technical solutions.  We are looking for someone who is curious, a critical thinker, able to ask good questions and facilitate conversations, and history of success architecting technology solutions.

A Solution Architect is the person in charge of leading the design and introducing the overall technical vision for a particular solution. Therefore, they are a key member of a project and necessary to implement a solution while combining guidance from different enterprise architecture viewpoints (business, information/data, and technical), as well as from the target architecture.  During the entire process, they oversee all technological risks and make sure that the described solution proves to be aligned with standards while meeting all the necessary business requirements

Location
This position will be based out of our Kiewit Business Center at 12720 I Street Omaha, NE or 8900 Renner Blvd Lenexa, KS.
Responsibilities

Participate in refining and enhancing Kiewit’s technology solutions strategy and roadmap.
Help Kiewit continue its growth towards being a truly data-driven company by identifying solutions that can solve business problems we have today while anticipating future problems and solutions.
Work with leader from across the company (like Business stakeholders, Project Managers, IT Leaders, Business Leaders, and Solution Leads) to ensure the technology solution’s meet or align with business needs.
Accountable for solution technical integrity, fit-for-purpose, and alignment with product and technical architecture strategy and standards compliance.
Continue to develop and promote architecture best practices and standards.
Work closely with product teams and business during inception, ideation, user-centered design, and solution design.
Collaborate with Enterprise Architects and Application Architects to understand target architecture and application roadmap.
Work closely with delivery teams to ensure proper hand-off of the project and address technical issues as they arise.
Assist with roadmap development for existing and future products
Proactively identify opportunities to enable business results with technology solutions.
Document and communicate complex concepts effectively to a diverse group of stakeholders.

 
Qualifications

8+ experience in IT Architecture Roles and/or ability to demonstrate broad technical experience.
Previous experience aligning technology roadmaps with business goals and initiatives.
Strong communicator with the ability to translate technical terms and concepts into graphics and business terms.
Experience working with all levels of an organization.
Proven ability to develop great relationships with co-workers, credibility with leadership, and rapport for getting things done with stakeholders.
Ability to lead, influence, and motivate the organization to achieve results
Experience selecting technology solutions that meet requirements which are cost-conscious and align with Kiewit’s technology goals and roadmap.
Familiarity with Architecture methodologies and frameworks
Ability to Travel (5-15%)
Ability to deal with ambiguity and lead teams through to more defined and actionable steps
Ability to present an open mind when working with stakeholders and business.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Reasonably comfortable with presenting ideas in front of medium to large groups.
Construction or Engineering experience a plus.
Familiarity with SAP, .NET, SharePoint, M365, and Service-Now a plus.
