Position Overview
As a Data Solution Architect for Kiewit, you will partner with our IT architecture teams on data-related initiatives focused on supporting enterprise-wide technology solutions.  This is your opportunity to work with our Enterprise and Application Architects, Product Managers, Reporting, Analytics, and Data Science teams to identify data problems and design solutions for data ingest, transport, transformation, storage, and exposure.  We are looking for someone who comes from a large company like ours, with a history of success architecting data.  This position will report to the manager of our IT architecture group.

Responsibilities

Help Kiewit continue its growth into being a data-driven company by identifying data solutions that can solve the business problems we have today.  Work with the Enterprise Data Solutions team and KTG leadership to ensure the data solutions support business needs and initiatives, proactively identify opportunities to enable business results with data solutions.
Gather and document requirements for database solutions.
Examine and identify database structural necessities by evaluating internal and external operations applications and data sources.
Design and implement scalable and effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve company data.
Design data pipeline solutions using modern DataOps principles.
Design & document operations policy for database solutions
Accountable for technical integrity, data fitness-for-purpose, and alignment with data architecture principles, standards, and practices.
Communicate with and coach enterprise and district technology personnel on data architecture standards and practices. 
Review data lineage and conceptual and logical data models in support of product, reporting, and data quality efforts.  Collaborate with the Data Governance team to ensure data policies are implemented across the enterprise.  Work closely with architecture, product and reporting teams, and business during inception, ideation, user-centered design, and solution design phases of application lifecycle to ensure data functional and non-functional requirements are identified and designed.
Document and communicate complex concepts effectively to a diverse group of stakeholders with varying levels of data literacy. 

Qualifications

8+ years in data architecture roles
Experience with multiple ETL/ELT tools
Knowledge of DataOps principles
Experience selecting technology solutions that meet requirements, are cost-conscious and align with technology goals and roadmaps.
Experience working with Data Governance to understand and ensure the technical implementation of data policies.
Strong communicator with the ability to translate technical terms and concepts into graphics and business terms.
Experience working with all levels of an organization.
Proven ability to develop great relationships with co-workers, credibility with leadership, and rapport for getting things done with stakeholders.
Familiarity with agile development practices
Ability to deal with ambiguity and self-direct to more defined and actionable terms
Presents an open mind when working with stakeholders and business
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Construction or Engineering experience a plus
Familiarity with SQL Server, Azure SQL Server, Teradata, Snowflake, ER/Studio, Collibra a plus
Understanding of SAP or other ERP systems a plus
