Employment Information
Are you a highly skilled CNC professional ready to take the next step in your career? A leading precision aerospace manufacturer is looking for a CNC Lead to oversee our small, high-performance machine shop.

The Role As the CNC Lead, you will bridge the gap between engineering and production. You will be responsible for ensuring our small team of operators maintains the highest standards of quality and efficiency while remaining hands-on with programming and complex setups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead & Mentor: Oversee daily shop operations, schedule workflows, and provide technical guidance to a small team of operators.

  • Program & Setup: Use Mastercam to develop and refine programs for 3 and 4-axis machining centers. Perform complex setups from scratch.

  • Aerospace Precision: Ensure all parts meet AS9100 standards and maintain tight tolerances required for aerospace applications.

  • Manual Machining: Utilize manual mills for custom tooling, fixtures, and specialized one-off repairs.

  • Process Improvement: Optimize cycle times, select high-performance tooling, and troubleshoot mechanical or programming issues on the fly.

What We?re Looking For
  • Experience: 5?7 years in a manufacturing machine shop environment, with at least 1?2 years in a Lead or Supervisory role.

  • Technical Mastery: Proficiency in Mastercam (programming/editing) and the ability to set up and operate CNC equipment independently.

  • Versatility: strong ability to operate manual machinery and a background in custom tooling/fixturing is highly preferred.

  • Quality Mindset: Deep understanding of blueprints, GD&T, and precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges).

  • Leadership: A proactive communicator who can motivate a team and hit production deadlines without compromising safety or quality.

Why Join Us? We offer a stable, professional environment where your expertise is respected. You?ll work on challenging projects with high-grade materials and have a direct hand in the growth of our shop operations.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

  • Production Oversight: Manage daily workflow for the CNC department to ensure strict aerospace delivery schedules are met.

  • Personnel Mentorship: Supervise a small team of operators; provide hands-on training for setups, part inspections, and machine troubleshooting.

  • Quality Compliance: Ensure all parts meet rigorous aerospace standards (AS9100/ISO 9001) and maintain documentation for traceability.

  • Process Optimization: Identify bottlenecks in production and implement Lean manufacturing principles to improve cycle times.

Technical Execution & Programming

  • Mastercam Programming: Create, verify, and edit complex 3-axis and multi-axis toolpaths for aerospace components.

  • Advanced Setup: Lead the setup of complex jobs, including selecting workholding, bores, and offsets to ensure "first-part" success.

  • Manual Machining & Tooling: Utilize manual lathes and mills for secondary operations, prototype work, or custom jig/fixture fabrication.

  • Tooling Management: Oversee tool crib inventory; specify and order high-performance carbide tooling and inserts based on material requirements (e.g., Titanium, Inconel).

Maintenance & Safety

  • Equipment Care: Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules for CNC centers to minimize downtime.

  • Safety Stewardship: Enforce strict PPE and shop safety protocols to maintain a zero-incident environment.
