Employment Information
Our client, a leading manufacturer in the Bohemia, NY area, is seeking an experienced and dedicated CNC Machinist to set up, program, and operate CNC Milling and/or Lathe machines. You will be responsible for producing high-precision components from raw materials for demanding industries. If you are a master of precision, G-code, and blueprint interpretation, we want you on our team.  
  • Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience as a CNC Machinist (Set-up/Operator/Programmer).

  • Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of G-Code and M-Code for editing and basic programming.

  • Measurement Mastery: Expert ability to use and read precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.).

  • Blueprint Reading: Proven ability to read and accurately interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T.

  • Mechanical Aptitude: Problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of machining principles, feeds, and speeds across various materials (aluminum, stainless steel, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Set-Up and Operation: Set up, adjust, and operate CNC mills and/or lathes (multi-axis experience a plus) to produce parts that meet strict engineering specifications and quality standards.

  • Programming: Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs (G-Code and M-Code) directly on the machine or via CAM software (e.g., Mastercam) to ensure efficient machining cycles and accuracy.

  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Quality Control: Perform precision measurements on finished parts using a variety of precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, etc.) to hold tolerances as tight as $\pm.0005$".

  • Tooling: Select, install, and adjust the correct cutting tools, inserts, and fixtures; monitor tool wear and make necessary offsets.

  • Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or deviations; troubleshoot process issues, and perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment.

  • Documentation: Accurately document production activities, including part counts, quality checks, and maintenance logs.
