Our client is seeking a versatile and proactive IT Systems & Support Administrator to serve as a key technical resource for their enterprise infrastructure. In this role, you will be the primary guardian of system health, responsible for managing a diverse ecosystem of hardware, software, and cloud-based information systems.

You will balance high-level server optimization and automation with hands-on technical support, ensuring that the organization's technology stack is secure, efficient, and ready for emerging technologies. This is an ideal role for a technical generalist who enjoys "owning" an environment and driving modernization through automation.

responsibilities:
  • Infrastructure Management: Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based server environments (Ubuntu preferred) and supporting infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and reliability. Diagnose and resolve server, application, and access issues impacting the software development team.
  • Automation & Systems Optimization: Design, develop, and maintain automation using tools such as Ansible, Bash, and/or Python to streamline provisioning, onboarding, patching, and recurring operational tasks, reducing manual intervention.
  • Security & Server Hardening: Implement and maintain Linux OS hardening, patching, and vulnerability remediation. Ensure systems meet security best practices and support sensitive, mission-critical workloads.
  • Incident Response & Operational Ownership: Respond to and resolve production incidents and emergency scenarios with minimal oversight, including onsite support when required. Take full ownership of issues through resolution.
  • Collaboration with Development Teams: Partner closely with software engineers to support development environments, repositories, and server-side dependencies, enabling development teams to focus on core product delivery.
  • Infrastructure Projects & Emerging Technology: Support infrastructure initiatives such as new server builds, system upgrades, and participation in internal server deployments, from hardware setup through OS installation and configuration.
  • Technical Leadership & Knowledge Sharing: Serve as a senior technical resource within a small IT team, providing guidance, documentation, and best practices while proactively identifying system improvements.
 
qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or minimum 5 years' of work experience

- Expert understanding of Linux (Ubuntu) operating systems

- In-depth knowledge of cloud-based enterprise communication platforms, Office365, etc.

- Experience with developing/maintaining automation scripts (Ansible, Python, or Bash) to streamline routine tasks

- Exceptional troubleshooting skills

- Understanding of IT networking

- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and collaboration skills

- Ability to manage a fast-paced workflow and prioritize task.
