A client of ours in the automotive manufacturing industry located in Frankfort, KY is seeking a Production Planner to join their team.  This position is responsible for leading the production planning, capacity planning, and master scheduling of all Make-to-Stock (MTS) product lines. This role involves strategically organizing manufacturing based on customer demand and quality standards, managing inventory levels and schedules to maximize plant performance, minimize delays, and ensure rapid responsiveness to changing monthly forecasts.  This position is a full-time permanent opportunity that offers a competitive salary and benefits package.  

salary: $67,000 - $70,000 per year

Responsibilities

  • Demand Analysis: Strategically review sales orders and forecasts to establish production priorities, balancing requested customer delivery dates against raw material availability and process capacity constraints.

  • Schedule Management: Plan and schedule regular production runs and trials to ensure optimal efficiency, achieve productivity targets, and maintain healthy inventory levels (WIP and Finished Goods).

  • Risk Mitigation: Maintain and adjust safety stock levels based on defined customer and internal risk mitigation requirements.

  • Daily Analysis: Proactively analyze customer demand, supply chain issues, and current production status daily to identify potential gaps and changes that could impact the production schedule. Implement immediate adjustments to maintain schedule integrity.

  • Material Coordination: Collaborate directly with the Purchasing Department to validate raw material availability against Material Requirements Planning (MRP) output and communicate forecast changes that pose a risk of material shortages.

  • Issue Resolution: Support the timely resolution of all resource issues (material, manpower, machine, or planning) that may threaten on-time delivery performance.

  • Process Improvement: Drive initiatives aimed at continuous improvement in production and engineering processes.

  • Strategic Reporting: Create and distribute key production status metrics and reports to support effective, data-driven decision-making across the organization.
