Randstad is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Director of Fleet Maintenance to oversee the complete maintenance and service operations for a premier commercial vehicle rental and leasing client in the Bayshore, NY area.  Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive leadership experience in fleet maintenance management, with at least 5 years specifically overseeing a fleet of 2,000+ commercial vehicles (Class 6-8 trucks).

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Develop, implement, and manage a best-in-class maintenance strategy for a fleet of over 2,000 diverse vehicles, including class 8 tractors, medium-duty trucks, and specialized equipment.
  
  
• Operational Oversight: Manage all aspects of maintenance operations, including multiple service shops, mobile maintenance programs, and third-party vendor relationships. Ensure compliance with all DOT, EPA, OSHA, and local regulations.
  
  
• Team Management: Recruit, train, mentor, and lead a large team of maintenance managers, supervisors, and technicians. Foster a high-performance culture focused on safety, efficiency, and quality repair work.
  
  
• Financial Management: Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget, controlling labor costs, parts inventory, capital expenditures, and ensuring maximized asset utilization and reduced downtime.
  
  
• Technology & Compliance: Leverage fleet management software (FMS), diagnostic tools, and telematics data to drive preventative maintenance programs, predict failures, and optimize repair cycles.
  
  
• Safety & Quality: Establish and enforce stringent quality control standards for all repairs and inspections, ensuring all vehicles meet high safety and operational standards before being returned to service.
