A client of ours in the automotive manufacturing industry located in Frankfort, Kentucky is seeking a Suppler Quality Assurance Engingeer to join their team.  This position is responsible for managing and ensuring the quality of all purchased products and raw materials. This role involves implementing quality standards, improving controls with suppliers, and ensuring compliance with key industry standards.  This is a full-time permanent opportunity offering a competitive salary and benefits package. 

salary: $70,000 - $80,000 per year
shift: First
work hours: 8 AM - 5 PM
education: Bachelors

Responsibilities

Supplier Quality Management:

  • Register and track complaints reported to suppliers.

  • Ensure that supplier corrective actions are closed in a timely manner.

  • Manage and update supplier quality documents, certificates, and scorecards.

  • Conduct supplier audits.

  • Monitor the quality of purchased products using Statistical Process Control (SPC).

  • Supervise compliance with procedures by incoming inspection auditors.

  • Approve Supplier PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) submissions and 4M changes from suppliers.

Quality Control & Compliance:

  • Enforce quality standards in the raw materials receiving process.

  • Negotiate with suppliers regarding the sorting and return of materials.

  • Carry out product containment for in-process and finished goods due to external complaints.

  • Manage inspection controls for receiving products and raw materials.

  • Responsible for the hold area for purchased materials and products.

  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and corporate/customer requirements.

Training & Development:

  • Train and develop incoming inspection inspectors.

  • Support training for end users.

Problem-Solving & Support:

  • Assist in release runs with suppliers and support product releases.

  • Define methods to identify 100% certified materials.

  • Follow up on supplier certification plans to ensure compliance.

  • Lead process improvements such as implementing 5S in the area.

  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and monitor the area's risk matrix.
