Diesel Mechanic ? Fleet Diagnostics, Engine Rebuilds, & Preventive Maintenance (Diagnose, repair, and rebuild diesel engines and vehicle systems for a high-volume fleet operation.)

Location: Woodridge, IL Shift: 2nd Shift | 3:00 PM ? 11:00 PM | Monday?Friday | OT as Needed Train on 1st, summer During busy season, swap shift 11am -7pm Pay: $32+/hr DOE

Role Summary: Randstad USA is hiring experienced Diesel Mechanics for a full-time, direct hire opportunity. In this role, you?ll lead hands-on repairs, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on diesel engines and fleet equipment. Ideal for technicians with advanced mechanical skills, electrical troubleshooting ability, and experience in high-demand service environments.  

Qualifications & Skills:

• 5+ years of hands-on diesel mechanic experience required
• Advanced certification in Diesel Technology or related mechanical field
• Strong knowledge of modern diagnostic software and electrical schematics
• Skilled in engine tear-down, rebuild, and system testing
• Ability to troubleshoot under pressure and in fast-paced settings
• Excellent problem-solving and technical communication skills
• Willingness to work overtime as needed

Responsibilities

• Diagnose diesel engine, drivetrain, and system failures with precision
• Perform complex repairs on transmissions, differentials, and major components
• Conduct oil changes, brake checks, alignments, and wheel balancing
• Overhaul and rebuild older or damaged engines to restore performance
• Implement and track preventive maintenance schedules per OEM specs
• Install upgrades and engine modifications to improve fuel efficiency and power
• Log repair and service activity in fleet management systems
• Ensure compliance with all workplace safety and environmental standards
• Work closely with fleet managers to reduce downtime and repair costs
• Stay current on evolving diesel technologies and attend required training
